Brian Howard has an interesting post over at Missional Challenge entitled “Church Planters Need All 3: Coach + Mentor + Supervisor” that’s well worth reading.

It has been my privilege to have been coached by a seasoned veteran in several of my past intentional interim positions. My coach worked with me to solve problems and from time to time he even switched hats and took on the role of mentor. My ministry and my life have been enriched by our relationship.

I’ve also had the privilege of serving as coach and mentor. A couple of the guys I’ve worked with are my age and have as much experience as I, but they express gratitude for the relationship. As for me, I’m as excited as they are (more so, maybe?) when they enjoy the small wins or achieve the major objectives.
